9We all work, eat and sleep as well as have our own social lives, hobbies and commitments in addition to a desire to have that ‘perfect’ physique. I’m pretty sure that quite a lot of you also have excuses as to why you can’t manage all of them effectively.

‘I just can’t find the time’. How many of you say this when ‘working out’ or ‘going to the gym’ comes up in conversation? But I guarantee if you analysed your working day you would be surprised at how much ‘free’ time you actually have. Take a look at this:

6:30-7:30am – Wake up & get ready for work

7:30-8:00am – Get breakfast (a lot of you this will be a tea or coffee with no actual food)

8:00-9:00am – Commute to work

9:00am-5:00pm – Full working day (give or take an hour, maybe add on an extra 1 or 2 hours)

5:00-6:00pm – Commute home

6:00-7:00pm – Sit down, watch TV

7:00-7:45 – Cook and eat tea (maybe even cook tomorrows breakfast and lunch if you’re organised)

7:45-10:30+ – Sit down, watch TV, play on iPhone/iPad, put the kids to bed, sit back down play on laptop/kindle etc……… then go to bed and do the same for another hour or so…….

Now take a look at this:

6:00-7:00am – Wake up & grab a pint of water

7:00-7:30am – Complete a 20-30 minute workout (examples of which have been posted in my previous posts)

7:30-8:00am – Shower, get dressed, eat breakfast that was previously prepped the night before

8:00-9:00am – Commute to work

9:00-5:00pm – Full working day (do you have a gym near or at work where you can smash a 30-45 minute workout)

5:00-5:30pm – Commute TO THE GYM

6:00-7:00 – Do a good quality workout

7:00-7:30pm – Commute home

7:30-8:15pm – Cook and eat tea

8:15-10:30+ – Sit down, watch TV, play on iPhone/iPad, put the kids to bed, sit back down play on laptop/kindle etc……… then go to bed and do the same for another hour or so…….

Spot the difference? By getting up half an hour earlier or maybe even at the same time in some cases you can squeeze in a short, sharp, metabolic workout as shown in our other Hale Fitness posts without getting to work or back home any later. Or you can stop off at the gym on the way home with only the small sacrifice of getting home half an hour later and not sitting down to watch TV before work.

Simple little changes in your lifestyle and organisation can make that massive difference in your health and well-being, alongside saying goodbye to all of those excuses!

Good luck, and have a nice evening.
